Hey everyone, I am Bryan. 端午节快乐, Happy Duan Wu Festival to all who are celebrating it. I call it Zongzi Jie. Today on Write with Ink, we are going to design some catchphrases or pick-up lines that can get you laid during this festive season.
A little background on 端午节, it is actually called Dragon Boat Festival in English, according to Wikipedia, which is celebrated near the summer solstice. The origin of the festival is because the fifth month of the Chinese calendar is a bad month so they purposely made a day in this month a celebration to scare away the evil forces of diseases and bad luck.
Rather than having a normal 端午节, why not we spice things up a bit for people out there. If you are single and ready to mingle, let me teach you some catchphrases for this very occasion.
There are three puns in there. First is 情有独‘粽’ (qing2 you3 du3 zhong4) which is derived from 情有独钟 which means having special feelings for someone like love. Secondly, 与‘粽’不同 (yu3 zhong4 bu4 tong3) which is taken from 与众不同 that means different from others. Thirdly is ‘粽’意你 (zhong yi ni) which is read in Cantonese means ‘Love You’. Fourth one is 浓情‘端午’, which means a deep, deep, lovely Duan Wu Festival.
Since this is a less serious video, I will design these words as usual, but I might pick one or two out for each design only.
